Our Beginning
Leonhardt Vineyards was founded in 1999
Leonhardt Vineyards was founded in 1999 coinciding with purchase of a 15 acre property at 8500 Dry Creek Road in Dry Creek Valley Sonoma County just outside the towns of Healdsburg and Geyserville, California.
Early Days
Laying the Foundation: A Commitment to the Land
The Leonhardt family cleared the land, put up fences and vineyard posts and planted zinfandel and petite syrah vines acquired from St. Peter’s Church property in Sonoma County. They preserved 90% of the trees on the property including some majestic redwoods with a mind on being a good custodian of the land. They built a fire protection gravel barrier around the property to help protect the vines and trees.

Supporting Local Traditions
In 2009 Leonhardt Vineyards LLC began sponsoring the founding and operations of Wine Country Old Fashioned Baseball with 10 teams – Cloverdale Bandits, Healdsburg Owls, Windsor Wonders, Santa Rosa Gnats, Rohnert Park Dragons, Petaluma Piratas, Sonoma Grape Crushers, Yountville Robins, Oakville Ace’s, St. Helena Frost Angels.
Leonhardt Vineyards LLC continues to sponsor family friendly baseball in Sonoma County including sponsorship of local tournaments such as the Wine Country Baseball Classic. The Santa Rosa RoseBuds sponsored by Leonhardt Vineyards have brought home to Sonoma County again again multiple championship trophies. Leonhardt Vineyards has also sponsored the Annual Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Celebration multiple years.
Award-Winning Wine
Gold Medal for our 2007 Zinfandel
In 2010, Leonhardt Vineyards won the first of many Gold Medals for our wines with the Sonoma County Harvest Fair Gold Medal for our 2007 Zinfandel. Leonhardt Vineyards continues to produce high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Petite Syrah wines to this day.
Celebrating 25 Years
Leonhardt Vineyards Celebrates 25th Anniversary
In 2024, Leonhardt Vineyards celebrated our 25th Anniversary. Now a generational family business with Ryan Leonhardt, the eldest son of founder Howard Leonhardt, running the vineyard operations and living full time nearby in Santa Rosa, CA.
